Before playing for Real Madrid David Beckham spent many years playing in England for the infamous Manchester United. This is where he was first discovered in the under 18’s team and has since gone on to Captain the England team for many years in a row. It was believed that David Beckham would draw in a big crowd to his matches and would raise the profile of American soccer. Whether he has managed it or not is unknown because he has recently gone on loan to AC Milan to play the rest of the season out there.
