Something different: the nautical star.
The nautical star is instantly recognizable across the globe as one of the most beautiful and intricate star designs around. It is also always associated with the tattoo industry due to its complex history as a navigational compass for sailors. Early sailors relied heavily on the stars to help them navigate across the seas, including the North Star and the Southern Cross, and soon they began to trust their prosperity to the stars. By tattooing the traditional nautical star on their bodies these sailors were able to improve their luck and their chances with the heavenly celestial world, thereby ensuring a safe passage home.
