Using the power of color
How to get the best from your wardrobe by using the power of color
One of the biggest mistakes people make when it comes to fashion is bad color co-ordination. The wrong combined colors can create terrible fashion disasters and if you do not know how to match colors or how to dress in the best colors for you then you are missing out on a wonderful fashion secret.
The power of color has long been a topic of interest for fashion designers around the world. And it is no coincidence that the Navy and the Air Force choose blue as their colors for uniforms. Certain shades of blue are known to denote impressions of power and authority, so if you work in an environment where you would like to be taken more seriously or be seen as having authority then a good blue shirt or suit could help to do the trick.
Black is of course an all time favorite color for suits, not only is it a strong and striking shade but it is also highly practical and combines well with a myriad of other colors giving you a wide range of options when it comes to matching it up with a shirt. When choosing your shirts you really do need to feel comfortable in the colors that you choose to wear. There is nothing wrong with a classic and clean white shirt but now and then you need to add a bit of spark and variety to your wardrobe with a brightly colored or pastel colored shirt. When it comes to choosing your shirts, ties and other clothing items do not be scared of color. Be bold, try something new and school your eyes into seeing what colors go well together to create wholly individual looks for yourself.
Bright colors do not need to be overwhelming, they can be bold and sophisticated and when correctly combined in flat smooth tones with blacks, dark blues or even whites they can be absolutely beautiful. A dark red or a bright green shirt can look spectacular underneath a black jacket or with a pair of black pants or worn with jeans for a slightly more casual look. When looking through colors do not underestimate the effectiveness of pastel shades. They are soft and gorgeous and are ideal for weddings, for the office and also do very well when combined with a classic suit or pair of jeans.
Other ways to give sparks of color to your outfits are by adding touches of color with ties, tie pins, cufflinks, watches and even socks. Cufflinks and tiepins denote a sense of great sophistication and when created in colors from gold and silver to blue, purple, red or green you can easily add sparks of color to any shirt. Socks need to be kept in line with the mood of the rest of the outfit but this doesn’t mean that you have to settle with plain black socks. Adding a fun or elegant touch of color can be done with a pair of striped or argyle patterned socks.
